We had a wonderful day on the lake. The conditions couldn’t have been better. We set up 4 stations and ALL of the kids were able to complete ALL of the knots. Remember we want the sailors to be able to rig their own boats and knowing their knots is really going to help.
The beginners sailed a sausage course for a “warm up” before racing. After a half hour or so they were all tacking and jibing well in both directions. We then switched to a Diamond Course for racing. They completed 3 races and we saw every sailor make progress in their ability to sail upwind. Congratulations to all participants in the Candy Cane Regatta.
We were able to sail five races to complete the Candy Cane Regatta. Everyone had some wonderful starts, and much improved upwind tactics. Excellent job navigating around the restricted start/finish line. There was even some penalty make-ups executed bay a few now that we have implemented the Port and Starboard rule. Congratulations to Mara Baylis sailing UNO for taking First Place in a tie breaker with Trevor Foley coming in Second Place. Third place honors go to Alex Radovan with some very consistent results. I want to congratulate the entire team for their dedication and sailing skill improvements over the last few weeks. Freestyle Faraola even came out of know where and placed First in the last race of the day shaking up the scores.
